- Have a game plan. Take a look at the menu online before you go out and select a couple healthy options for you to choose from when you get to the restaurant. This way you won’t be overwhelmed or pressured into high calorie dishes.
- Instead of an appetizer, opt for a small salad or cup of non-cream-based soup. This will give you something to munch on besides the bread or chips at the table.
- Don’t be afraid to customize your order. Ask for light oil and sauce or dressing on the side. Servers are happy to oblige.
- As soon as you are served, split your plate in half and take half of your order home with you. You won’t feel uncomfortably full, and you’ll have another meal already prepared to eat later.
- When all else fails, choose a lean protein, such as grilled chicken or fish, and vegetables or salad as a side.
